Five lessons I learned while playing FPL
I have been playing Fantasy Premier League (FPL) for a few years now and I have learned a few lessons along the way. Here are some of the key takeaways from my experience:
1. Patience is key
One of the most important lessons I have learned from playing FPL is the importance of patience. It can be tempting to make knee-jerk reactions and transfer players in and out of your team based on their recent form, but it is important to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Players will go through ups and downs throughout the season, and it is important to have faith in your initial selections and give them time to come good.
2. Do your research
Another key lesson I have learned is the importance of doing your research. There is a wealth of information available online to help you make informed decisions about your team, from fixture difficulty ratings to expected goals, expected goal involvements, and assists data. Taking the time to do your homework and make informed decisions can make a big difference to your overall performance.
3. Trust your instincts
While research is important, it is also crucial to trust your instincts when it comes to making decisions about your team. At the end of the day, you are the manager of your team and you know your players better than anyone else. If you have a gut feeling about a player or a particular transfer, it is important to trust that instinct and go with your gut.
4. Don’t be afraid to take risks
I have learned that it is important not to be afraid to take risks when playing FPL. Sometimes, the key to success is taking a chance on a differential player or making a bold captaincy choice. While it is important to be strategic and make informed decisions, it is also important to be willing to take risks and think outside the box.
5. Enjoy the game
Above all, the most important lesson I have learned from playing FPL is to enjoy the game. It can be easy to get caught up in the competitive aspect of the game and become frustrated when things don’t go your way, but it is important to remember that FPL is ultimately just a game. It is meant to be fun and enjoyable, so it is important to relax, have fun, and enjoy the experience.
And remember it’s a 38-gameweek season and your end-of-the-season score is ultimately the most important score. So, don’t get too disheartened if you have a bad gameweek or two. There is always time to turn things around and climb up the rankings.
